DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

The Department shall be responsible for the provision of preventive and curative health services through general nursing care and clinical care and provision of medical equipment, and pharmaceutical services. The Department shall also be responsible for implementing programs and projects aimed at preventing, controlling and eliminating diseases in order to promote health and prolong life. The Department shall perform the following specific functions:

1. Provide clinical care services
2. Provide nursing care and pharmaceutical services
3. Control of communicable diseases and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)
4. Provide counselling and testing services
5. Control and elimination of malaria
6. Provide child health programs
7. Provide vaccination services
8. Ensure availability of medical equipment in health facilities
9. Provide environmental health services
10. Provide maternal health services
11. Provide family planning, counselling and dispensing of family planning commodities
12. Provide nutrition services
13. Conduct health education programs
14. Conduct disease surveillance programs
15. Manage ambulance services.
