Chirundu Town Council has handed over contracts to Sam’s Transport and General Dealers and Timashi Enterprises for the grading of a 1.3KM gravel road and the installation of 3 No. vented drifts from 22 Corners to Gershom Church under the Zambia Devolution Support Programme (ZDSP).
Speaking during the handover, Chirundu Town Council (CTC) Council Chairperson Nevers Muchindu assured the people of Chirundu that Government will continue to ensure equitable delivery of development to all parts of the district.
Mr. Muchindu emphasized the need for contractors engaged on road projects to double their efforts and complete the works even ahead of schedule, noting that improved road infrastructure contributes significantly to economic development and growth.
He added that once a road is upgraded, it brings with it important social and economic benefits to both local residents and international traders.
He further highlighted that Chirundu Town Council is committed to improving the poor road network through massive rehabilitation works across the district.
Mr. Muchindu has since called upon contractors to work closely with the local authority and invest heavily in road maintenance, stating that it remains a cornerstone for accelerating development in Chirundu Constituency.
