In line with its mandate to safeguard lives, property, and the environment through timely response to fire and other emergencies, Chirundu Town Council (CTC) has commenced the construction of a modern fire station in Kabanana of Musaya Ward under Chirundu Constituency.
The project, valued at over K1 million, is being implemented with financial support from the Zambia Devolution Support Programme (ZDSP).
A fire station serves as a strategic hub for emergency response, enabling firefighters to rapidly deploy to incidents such as fires, road traffic accidents, and medical emergencies.
The new facility will house essential fire-fighting equipment, fire engines, protective gear, and provide living and training spaces for firefighters.
This infrastructure will significantly improve response times and enhance the Council’s operational capacity across the district.
Beyond emergency response, the fire station will strengthen community safety by supporting fire prevention activities, conducting building inspections, and offering training and public education on fire safety and emergency preparedness.
It will also serve as a center for coordination with other emergency response services during large-scale incidents.
The construction of the fire station marks a major milestone in improving public safety and delivering quality municipal services to the people of Chirundu. Once completed, the facility is expected to enhance readiness, boost community engagement, and contribute to long-term resilience in the district.
